RECYCLING AT THE REHOBOTH TRANSFER STATION open on Tuesdays and Saturdays, is located at the intersection of Route 118 and Martin Street. A Transfer Station windshield sticker is required to recycle items including: Tin and Aluminum cans, rinsed out; Plastic numbers 1 through 5 (no toys, shopping bags, styrofoam, oil, or antifreeze containers or plastic straws; Newspaper (no magazines or junk mail; Brown paper bags go into the cardboard container; Glass (lids removed and rinsed out); Cardboard (pizze boxes and brown paper bags accepted, residential only, not commercial); Scrap metal (misc. metal items, larger itemsmay involve a charge); Leaves/grass clipping/Christmas trees/seasonal (no brush allowed, ask manager for info). Additionally, there is recycling for electronics and bulky items. You pay for this recycling by using a pre-paid punch card. Speak to the manaager when you arrive and they will tell you how many punches are required for specific items such as a television, furniture, or mattress. Other services at the Transfer Station include a Lions Club Swap Shed for usuable items; a Paint Swap Shed operated May through October; and a Textile Blue Bin for used clothing placed in bags, sheets, etc. All should be clean, but stains and rips are allowed. Joyce: It’s important not only for the visual appeal and pride in having a town clean of roadside trash or debris, but also the positive environmental impact it has in the long run.

Michael: We have a beautiful town and I hate to see it marred by roadside litter.

Raymond: Eliminating roadside trash and keeping Rehoboth clean enhances the appearance and natural landscape of our town and possibly reduces the attitude that roadside litter is acceptable.for

Jennifer: We need to have pride in where we live and respect for each other and nature. The National Technical Honor Society students from Bristol-Plymouth and I want to help Rehoboth stay as clean as it is part of our community!

2020 ANNUAL SPRING CLEAN-UP INFORMATION If you enjoy getting outside for some fresh air and contributing to the betterment of your community, this event is perfect for you! The Keep Rehoboth Beautiful Committee is excited to announce the 3rd Annual Townwide Spring Clean-up. The event will take place from April 18 - April 26. Rehoboth residents are invited to participate in the event by picking up litter in their street, neighborhood, or favorite spot in town. OF COURSE THE 2020 ANNUAL CLEAN-UP WAS LATER CANCELED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC.

TOSSING EMPTY NIP BOTTLES FROM CARS IS A BIG PROBLEM IN REHOBOTH Jen LeComte, a member of the KRB Committee, attended a Rehoboth Board of Selectmen meeting on April 16, 2019 to ask for the Board's support of MA Bill H.2881 to promote proper disposal of "nip" bottles by adding the small alcohol containers to the existing "Bottle Bill" with a 5¢ deposit for individual nip bottles.

CONGRATULATIONS, LORELEI! KRB Committee member Lorelei Kellum was recently chosen as the 8th grade service Ambassador for Project 351 at Beckwith Middle School! Project 351 is a nonprofit organization that unites an 8th grade service Ambassador from every city and town in the Commonwealth for a year of unique service initiatives, leadership development, and Ambassador-led community building. They believe that eighth graders have unlimited potential to make an inspiring difference in their community and our world.

FALL CLEAN-UP RECAP Although billed as a “mini clean-up” this event on October 5 and 6 proved to be a maxi-success! We estimate over 100 volunteers participated and gathered trash and litter from over 50 streets. We wish to thank all of those who participated with special appreciation to the BOS, the Transfer Station, and the Highway Department. Without such support these town wide events would not be possible.

PROJECTS The KRB Committee launched a fundraising campaign called "Spruce Up the Town" in May 2019 selling potted spruce tree seedlings, grown in Rehoboth, at town meetings and at the Rehoboth Transfer Station. The Committee raised $370 from the sale of seedlings! All proceeds went directly towards funding litter prevention efforts in Rehoboth. During the winter of 2019, several members of the KRB Committee gathered to sew litter prevention bags by hand. Over 30 bags were made! Throughout the past several months, the KRB Committee has been distributing the litter prevention bags for residents to keep in their vehicle as a designated place to put trash until they reach their destination!

HISTORY OF KEEP REHOBOTH BEAUTIFUL The first KRB Town-wide Roadside Litter Cleanup was held from April 22 to 28, 2018 as part of Rehoboth's 375 Anniversary Celebration when over 250 residents volunteered and completely filled the Highway Department's dump truck with trash bags -- for 15 trips to the landfill! Wow, that was a lot of litter collected from our beautiful roadsides. Volunteers filled 23 trash bags with litter along the 2.6 mile parade route on Route 4 in preparation for the Rehoboth 375 Parade on October 7, 2018. We had over 200 volunteers help this year for the annual springtime roadside cleanup. Together they collected over 400 bags of litter, enough to fill 10 dump trucks! The Rehoboth Highway Department, once again, disposed of all the trash bags left by roadsides by volunteers.

2026 ANNUAL SPRING CLEANUP INFORMATION Following the cold of winter and months of litter accumulating on our roadsides, it is time once again to clean up. The Keep Rehoboth Beautiful Committee is excited to announce the 8th Annual Townwide Spring Cleanup from April 19 through 26, 2026. All residents are invited to participate by picking up litter on their street, in their neighborhood, or favorite spots around town.

We have made it easy and convenient to learn more, register to help, and grab supplies. You can do this in advance on April 4th, 11th and 18th at Blanding Free Public Library and on from April 20 thru 24 at Re/Max Integrity on Route 44. Drop by and pick up your supplies!

DISPOSAL OPTIONS

There are TWO locations in Rehoboth where you can drop off full bags of roadside trash. WEEKENDS ONLY -- April 8-19 and April 25-26

Safety is our primary concern, so PLEASE be careful while you are picking up roadside litter. Wear safety colors or safety vests so that vehicles can see you. Carefully supervise children and pets that may accompany you. Speeding and reckless driving is common on the backroads of Rehoboth so do not expect drivers to see you or slow down.
